After seeing the film "Les Miserables," Showtime producers thought it would be funny for "House of Lies" stars Don Cheadle and Josh Lawson to sing lines Les-Mis style from the hit show and asked Sandblast Productions to add a musical score to the actors' unique a cappella version. The result was comic genius - a minute-long parody, nicknamed "Les Mais," which Showtime aired the same weekend as this year's Academy Awards.

Today, Sandblast Productions has been awarded the Gold Medal in the 2014 PromaxBDA Promotion, Marketing and Design Global Excellence Awards for their music in the "House of Lies" promo clip.

Sandblast is an award-winning production company specializing in music, sound design and audio post production for television, radio, film and theatre. This latest accolade showcases the company's talent and musical depth, which has fueled its recent success, including the opening of a new facility at 1650 Broadway in New York City to meet demand from clients (read the release here).

"Everyone has access to the same gear," says Sandblast founding member Loren Toolajian. "Technology has evened the playing field. So what it's really about is how you're going to use the technology you have. As an individual, an artist, and a creative entity, what do you bring to it uniquely that allows you to use it in a special way?"

Sandblast's recent projects include sound design, mixing and music for Showtime's "Masters of Sex" and "Penny Dreadful" series, HBO's "Vice" series, and upfronts for CBS and ESPN. Film mixing and sound design projects include "The Lifeguard," "Night Has Settled," and "Purpose Built," among others.
