It's a busy weekend coming up here at In The Lights, ! Check out what's happening on the west side this weekend, from the stage of Aaron Davis Hall with the new EMD, now under the direction of Tiffany Rea-Fisher, to an informative evening with the Actors Fund at Steps On Broadway.

EMD, March 16 + 17 at 7:30, Aaron Davis HallWith two chances to catch this evolving company, they are presenting two diverse evenings of work to not only invite audiences to see their new voice as an ensemble but to also bring in other influential movers from the dance community in the spirit of collaboration. From TV star Tony Danza to the tapping feet of Ayodele Casel, the season offers new works of layered genres that celebrate diversity and snapshot moments of life that resonate within us all.

Their second evening, Night of Stars will also be the soft premiere of 5Plus Ensemble, a vibrant company of mature artists steeped in an abundance of life experiences, performative richness, and artistic invention, founded by Carmen de Lavallade, Hope Clarke, Sheila Rohan, Michael Blake and Darryl Rueben Hall. They will be presenting a work by Dwight Rhoden, restaged my Mrs. de Lavallade. (The company will make their official debut in September 2018).

The Steps Beyond Foundation Artist Talk: A Life in Dance-- Resources for those On Stage at Every Stage, Steps on Broadway, March 17 at 7:30Artist Talk: A Life in Dance-Resources for Those on Stage at Every Stage will provide attendees an intimate environment to connect with representatives from The Actors Fund and American Guild of Musical Artists.

The Actors Fund, which also encompasses The Dancers' Resource and Career Transition for Dancers, has long supported the dance community in managing the unique demands on stage and camera, or behind the scenes in theater, film, radio, music dance, opera and circus through career development and management, health, wellness and support for injured dancers, as well as emergency financial assistance and scholarships. American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA), the labor union for artists who create America's operatic, choral and dance heritage, will cover topics of advocacy, rights, and legal matters pertaining to the dance industry.
