The upcoming production of Jerome has announced its cast and creative team ahead of its spring 2026 run at The Judith O. Rubin Theater.

Written by John J. Caswell Jr. and directed by Dustin Wills, Jerome will play from May 14 through June 21, 2026.

Stephen Spinella (Broadway and Playwrights: James Joyce’s The Dead; Broadway: Spring Awakening, Our Town), who won two Tony Awards for his performance originating the role of Prior in Angels in America, plays Con, and Tyrone Mitchell Henderson (Broadway: The Skin of Our Teeth; Off-Broadway: Prince Faggot, Hamlet) plays Doane.

The characters are, as the latter jokes at a Halloween Ball thrown by the Northern Arizona Pride Alliance, “two old men shacked-up romantically in blood-red Yavapai County, Arizona” who have, as the former prods, led “unusually milquetoast” monogamous sex lives for gay men, after nearly three decades with “no semblance of a treat along the way.”  Ken Barnett (Broadway: Wonderful Town; Off-Broadway: Novenas For A Lost Hospital; TV: Mozart in the Jungle) plays Bruin — the “treat” that shakes their ideas about the shape of their love.

The creative team is Dustin Wills (Scenic Design), Rodrigo Muñoz (Costume Design), Barbara Samuels (Lighting Design), Leah Gelpe (Sound Design), Matt Carlin (Props), Kasson Marroquin (Production Stage Manager), Tyler Crow (Assistant Stage Manager), and Alldaffer & Donadio Casting (Casting).

Jerome, a ghost town in the secluded Arizona backcountry, is home to Con and Doane, an aging gay couple who’ve built a quiet life far from the chaos of cities and other people—until a stranger arrives, fleeing his damaged past, and falls into their arms. Set at the height of the AIDS epidemic, John J. Caswell, Jr.’s new play is an unexpectedly funny, delicately wrought story of survival, even in the harshest of deserts.
