Tony Awards Close-Up: David Korins Picks Up His First Nomination for His Design of HAMILTON!

David Korins has left his mark at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Well, really he's left his mark on many Broadway stages, but his work this season for HAMILTON has earned him his very first Tony nomination (Best Scenic Design for a Musical). What were his biggest challenges? Find out below!

HAMILTON is the acclaimed new musical about the scrappy young immigrant Alexander Hamilton, the $10 Founding Father who forever changed America with his revolutionary ideas and actions. During his life cut too short, he served as George Washington's chief aide, was the first Treasury Secretary, a loving husband and father, despised by his fellow Founding Fathers and shot to death by Aaron Burr in their legendary duel.

The American Theatre Wing's 70th Annual Tony Awards, hosted by Tony Award winner James Corden, will air on the CBS Television Network on Sunday, June 12, 2016 (8:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) live from the Beacon Theatre in New York City.
