Tilted Axes: Music For Mobile Electric Guitars Returns For Winter Solstice

On December 21st composer Patrick Grant brings back his Tilted Axes: Music for Mobile Electric Guitars project for a commissioned performance at Make Music Winter, a solstice celebration in New York City. The new work has been commissioned by NYU Faculty Housing Happenings and is a winter luminaria Grant is calling "Cold Moon Consort" in reference to 2018's winter solstice and the December full moon occurring within the same day.

The musical procession kicks off in Sasaki Garden, located in Washington Square Village, just north of Bleecker Street and west of Mercer Street, at 5:00pm and wends its way throughout Greenwich Village before returning to the garden for the finale.

Complete event information can be found on the Tilted Axes web site HERE.

In a November 17 interview with Ultimate-Guitar, Grant described the history of the project and how it has evolved since its NYC inception in 2011, went on to become projects in three different continents, and crystallize into its self-titled award-winning album of 2016. Grant took two years away from Tilted Axes to complete two other albums and to begin a position at the NYU Film School.

Now, in December 2018, Grant is back with a new version of Tilted Axes that has come together to celebrate the season and to create a new core for new work in 2019. Grant has composed a stack of new compositions that he his eager for the group to learn and to find new ways in which to perform it. In pursuit of the latter, Tilted Axes will begin working with choreographers and martial artists as part of their regular rehearsal. The accent here will be on the mobility of the music.

Tilted Axes is a project of Peppergreen Media and is proud to be sponsored by Vox Amps and Korg USA.
