The PIT to Present Mandy Murphy's FROM A TO DOUBLE D

Fresh off its run at The SheNYC Summer Theatre Festival where it nabbed the award for 'Best New Play', From A To Double D will run at The PIT Loft Space (154 W 29th Street) Sunday through the month of October.

The show is directed by Ari Conte and stars playwright Mandy Murphy, Tepper Saffren (Return To Spoon River), Lexie Speirs (Orange Is the New Black), Bryn Packard and Ari Conte.

From A To double D is the story of how a woman's body shapes her life and how our lives shape us. Devon Hayes holds an auction; an auction for her bras, to be specific, from the sweet and petite size A trainer to the super-sized and supportive double D. With the help of fast- talking auctioneer Don, we visit the most intimate moments, tender and tumultuous, Devon has faced as a young woman who developed breasts before so many things, punctuated by a live, interactive bidding war that culminates in an unexpected ending.

Mandy Murphy is a Texas born, New York based playwright and actress who brings small town stories to the stages of New York with a big-city flair. Her most recent production of From A to Double D played to much acclaim at The SheNYC Summer Theatre Festival and won the award for 'Best New Play'. Other readings and workshops include Valer with LoneStar Theatre Co. (NYC), and Cutter (Austin, TX and NYC), as well as an upcoming workshop of an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet in Austin, TX this November. Murphy holds a BFA in Acting from Texas State University. Ari Conte is a New York (but Boston bred) performer, producer and new director. She is a proud board member of SheNYC Arts and is excited to bring From A to Double D to The PIT LOFT stage after producing it at the 2017 SheNYC festival. She is also a Co-Producer on The Shakespearean Jazz Show (NYMF 2017), and is the Assistant to the Oscar/Tony/Golden Globe winning songwriting duo, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

The PIT Loft is the intimate, black box sister location of the PIT on the west side of Manhattan at 154 West 29th street. The PIT (people's Improv Theatre) is an award winning training center and comedy theater based in New York City, dedicated to the instruction, performance, and development of original comedy.
