The New York Pops Announces 2019-20 Season At Carnegie Hall

The New York Pops today announces its 2019-2020 season of performances in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall.

The New York Pops opens its 2019-2020 season on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage with One Night Only: Jeremy Jordan in a brand-new program highlighting stage, film, and television star Jeremy Jordan in an evening featuring some of his favorite songs from Broadway and beyond.

On Friday, December 20 and Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 8:00 p.m., The New York Pops celebrates the holiday season with A Frank and Ella Christmas featuring jazz artist Tony DeSare and stage legend Capathia Jenkins together with Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA.

The New York Pops performs the timeless music of Rodgers and Hammerstein on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. in Find Your Dream: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein with guest artists Laura Michelle Kelly and Max von Essen. The concert covers all eleven of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic collaborations, including music from Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, and The Sound of Music.

On Friday, February 14, 2020 at 8:00 p.m., The New York Pops is joined by guest artists Mandy Gonzalez, Carrie Manolakos, and Alex Newell for I'm Every Woman: Divas On Stage. The concert salutes the power of the female voice, and pays tribute to Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, Adele, and fellow icons who have transformed the world through song.

The New York Pops performs the iconic music of John Williams on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. in Movie Night: The Scores of John Williams, celebrating the five-time Academy Award winning composer who brought musical life to films including Jaws, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Harry Potter.

"I'm so excited to share this upcoming season with you!" said New York Pops Music Director Steven Reineke. "Our concerts this year offer something for everyone. We'll celebrate the timeless tunes of Rodgers and Hammerstein, the legendary film music of John Williams, and the extraordinary power of the diva onstage. We've got some great soloists lined up, and of course none of this is possible without the musicians of our fantastic New York Pops orchestra!"

Single tickets for all 2019-2020 performances will go on sale to Carnegie Hall subscribers and members on August 12 at 8:00 a.m., and to the general public on August 21 at 8:00 a.m.

About the Artists
The New York Pops is the largest independent pops orchestra in the United States, and the only professional symphonic orchestra in New York City specializing in popular music. Under the leadership of dynamic Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke, The New York Pops continues to re-imagine orchestral pops music. The orchestra performs an annual subscription series and birthday gala at Carnegie Hall and a summer series at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, NY. The New York Pops is dedicated to lifelong learning, and collaborates with public schools, community organizations, children's hospitals and senior centers throughout the five boroughs of New York City. PopsEd allows thousands of New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds to participate in fully customizable music programs that blend traditional education with pure fun.

Steven Reineke has established himself as one of North America's leading conductors of popular music. This season Mr. Reineke celebrates his tenth anniversary as Music Director of The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall. Additionally, he is Principal Pops Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Principal Pops Conductor of the Houston and Toronto Symphony Orchestras. Reineke is a frequent guest conductor with The Philadelphia Orchestra and his extensive North American conducting appearances include Atlanta, Cincinnati, Edmonton, San Francisco and Sarasota. On stage, Reineke has created programs and collaborated with a range of leading artists from the worlds of hip hop, Broadway, television and rock including Common, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Sutton Foster, Megan Hilty, Cheyenne Jackson, Wayne Brady, Peter Frampton and Ben Folds, among others. In 2017, National Public Radio's "All Things Considered" featured Reineke leading the National Symphony Orchestra performing live music excerpts between news segments - a first in the show's 45-year history. In 2018 Reineke led the National Symphony Orchestra with hip hop legend Nas performing his seminal album "Illmatic" on PBS's Great Performances. As the creator of more than 100 orchestral arrangements for the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Reineke's work has been performed worldwide and can be heard on numerous Cincinnati Pops Orchestra recordings on the Telarc label. His symphonic works Celebration Fanfare, Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Casey at the Bat are performed frequently. His Sun Valley Festival Fanfare was used to commemorate the Sun Valley Summer Symphony's pavilion, and his Festival Te Deum and Swan's Island Sojourn were debuted by the Cincinnati Symphony and Cincinnati Pops. His numerous wind ensemble compositions are published by the C.L. Barnhouse Company and are performed by concert bands worldwide.
