The Fear Project, a politically-charged evening of short plays, will open Monday, January 16, 2006 at 8 p.m. at the Barrow Group Theatre (312 West 36th St.)

The Fear Project, which opens the Barrow Group's 2006 season, will feature seven short plays by award-winning playwrights while Eric Paeper will direct. Contributing playwrights include Trish Alexandro, Joshua James, K. Lorrel Manning, Scott Organ, Eric Paeper and Stefanie Zadravec.

"Original footage and compiled media images link 7 provocative short plays; each begging the question can one find balance between being informed and staying functional? Fear surrounds us in the Media; in politics; in advertising. Everywhere you look something or someone is exploiting our fears," according to production notes. "These funny and provocative shorts explore the subject from all angles with humor and candor."

The Fear Project features Amy Loughead, Porter Pickard, Taylor Ruckle, Brant
Spencer, Dan McCabe, Emory Van Cleve, Stefanie Zadravec, Jeremy Folmer And DeAnna Lenhart.

Scenic design is by Andrew Cavanaugh Holland, lighting design is by Tyler Micoleau, original music and sound design is by David Herman and videography is by Emory Van Cleve.

"The Barrow Group will bring their trademark approach to the material the same approach which yielded the much heralded The Tricky Part (Obie Award-winner, Drama Desk Nominations--Outstanding Play and Outstanding Solo Show) and Pentecost (Drama Desk Nomination for Outstanding Play)." The Barrow Group was also the recipient of the 1995 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Off-Off Broadway Ensemble. Old Wicked Songs, a 1995 Pulitzer Finalist, was listed for two years consecutively in Clive Barnes' "10 Best of the Year", The 1996 production of C.P. Taylor's Good received numerous Straw Hat Awards from Theater Week including Best Revival, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress.

Performances of The Fear Project are Wed - Monday at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday matinees at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 during previews and $35 from opening night until February 13th, 2006.
