The Box Colony Theatre's IS THAT DANNY DEVITO? Heads to FringeNYC
Written in the style of the absurdist comedies of Samuel Beckett, the new play Is That Danny DeVito? And Other Questions from West of the Hudson focuses on the psychological non-adventures of two over-educated but under-employed millennials as they wait for a perpetually delayed bus to deliver them from their New England campsite to their beloved Garden State.
As they wait, Dusty (Julian Blake Gordon) and Geoff (Finn Kilgore) pass the time with the help of bizarre locals (Natasha Edwards & Carlo Fiorletta) and conversations on topics ranging from the millennial experience to celebrity culture, pop entertainment, literature, New Jersey, and whether or not a man unseen to the audience is Danny DeVito.
"Even though this is a parody of Waiting for Godot, the Tragecomedy is still here." Says Director Amanda Levie. "I wanted to sneak into everybody through the relatability of the characters."
Playwright Alexander Janosek Doyle commented: "We've been lucky to gather such a fantastic talent for this project. I think everyone has put together a really special experience for Fringe's audience."
Is That Danny DeVito? will be performed at FringeNYC Venue #8: WOW Café at 59-61 E 4th St. #4 (between 2nd Avenue & Bowery) on August 13th and 20th at 2:15, the 16th at 9:15, the 23rd at 4:30, and the 27th at 7:00. For more information, visit www.isthatdannydevito.com.
