Mothers and Sons, the new play by four-time Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally and starring Tyne Daly, begins performances at Broadway's John Golden Theatre today, Sunday, February 23, 2014, ahead of an official opening night on Monday, March 24, 2014. Mothers and Sons marks McNally's 20th Broadway show.

Mothers and Sons, a play about a mother who pays a surprise visit to the New York apartment of her late son's ex-partner, who is now married to another man and has a young son. Challenged to face how society has changed around her - without her - she is finally able to see the rich life her son might have led. The cast also features Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Frederick Weller and Tony Award nominee Bobby Steggert. Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall) directs.

Mothers and Sons had its world premiere production at Bucks County Playhouse on June 13, 2013.

McNally's other works for Broadway include Bad Habits; The Ritz; The Rink; Kiss of the Spider Woman; Love! Valour! Compassion!; Master Class; Ragtime; The Full Monty; and Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune.
