TMP is turning Sweet Sixteen and you are invited to an incredible season of musical productions beginning October 2, 2009! This sensational season brings five shows to the TMP mainstage including regional premieres, new revivals of old favorites, and plenty of fabulous music! Our season opener is the surprise hit musical that just closed on Broadway in 2008...Curtains. This hilarious show-within-a-show, murder mystery musical is a real knock-out tribute to show business, with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb - the composer/lyricist team from Cabaret and Chicago.

Curtains unfolds backstage at Boston's Colonial Theatre, where a new musical could be a Broadway smash, were it not for the presence of its talent-free leading lady. When the hapless star dies on opening night during her curtain call, Lt. Frank Cioffi arrives on the scene to conduct an investigation. But the lure of the theater proves irresistible, and after an unexpected romance blooms for the stage-struck detective, he finds himself just as drawn toward making the show a hit as he is in solving the murder.

A TMP Staff favorite, Curtains is an original musical comedy with a book by Tony Award winner Rupert Holmes (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Say Goodnight Gracie), music and lyrics by the Tony Award- winning team of John Kander and Fred Ebb, and original book and concept by Tony Award-winner Peter Stone (1776, Titanic, The Will Rogers Follies).

The production runs October 2-25, 2009. Performances are Fridays & Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm, with Saturday matinees at 2 pm on October 17th and 24th. All performances will take place at Tacoma Musical Playhouse, 7116 6th Avenue in Tacoma. All seating for TMP and TCMT productions is reserved, so advance purchase is strongly recommended. Tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for students, seniors and military, and $18 for children 12 and younger. Student Rush tickets are $18 for opening weekend performances. Group rates are available. For tickets or more information, please visit www.tmp.org or call the TMP Box Office at 253-565-6867. This production is suitable for all ages.
