THE LITTLE MATCH GIRL to Make London Debut at Wilton's Music Hall This Christmas
Arthur Pita directs and choreographs the Hans Christian Andersen adaptation, featuring live music by Frank Moon.
Ballo Arthur Pita has announced the return of its award-winning festive production, The Little Match Girl, to London this Christmas. Making its debut at the iconic Wilton's Music Hall, Arthur Pita's enchanting adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's beloved classic opens on Thursday 3rd of December and runs until Saturday 2nd of January 2027. Tickets are on sale now.
Set within the unique surroundings of Wilton's Music Hall, The Little Match Girl offers the perfect festive treat for audiences of all ages. Combining dance, song and Frank Moon's evocative live music, this heart-warming and visually captivating production brings Andersen's timeless tale to life in a magical theatrical experience filled with humour, wonder and hope.
On a snow-covered Christmas Eve in an imaginary Italian town, a young girl journeys through the streets selling matches for survival and warmth. Along the way she encounters moments of hardship and humanity in a moving winter tale of compassion, imagination and resilience.

I have always been in love with this extraordinary venue, and I couldn't be more excited to bring this poignant Hans Christian Andersen story to such a historic and atmospheric theatre. Christmas has always been special to me because of its unique ability to bring people together, and at its heart, The Little Match Girl is a story of survival, compassion, hope, and wonder. From the streets of the earth to the beauty of the moon, this enchanting journey will move and delight audiences of all ages, children and adults alike. Originally commissioned by DanceEast, The Little Match Girl premiered in November 2013 and has since enjoyed five hugely successful festive seasons at Sadler's Wells, Lilian Baylis Studio and has performed at venues across the UK and internationally. In 2025, the production was honoured with the Hans Christian Anderson Award in Odense.
The Little Match Girl is choreographed and directed by Arthur Pita, with music composed by Frank Moon and set and costume designs by Yann Seabra. Casting to be announced.
