Student Blog: Katie Van Sickle Hello there BroadwayWorld readers! My name is Katharine, but I usually go by Katie. I am 19 years old and from Alpharetta, Georgia. I am currently a rising sophomore at Columbus State University where I am a double major in both Theatre and Secondary Education with a focus in English. Theatre has been a big part of my life since the fourth grade, so I'm very excited to have the opportunity to be a student blogger for BroadwayWorld!

I hope to share my love and passion for theatre with all who read my posts. I plan to share advice, give opinions, and basically talk all things theatre with you all. The theatre community has been there for me in so many ways and I'm so happy for this chance to give back to it. I want to conclude this post with some of my "theatre favorites", and I ask that you comment yours on this post as well!

Favorite musical: Ragtime

Favorite role I've played: Aunt March in Little Women the Musical

Favorite show I've done: Jekyll and Hyde

Dream role(s): Mother in Ragtime, Katherine Plumber in Newsies, Belle in Beauty and the Beast, and The Baker's Wife in Into The Woods

Favorite show I've seen live: Something Rotten on tour

Favorite thing about theatre: How there is something for everyone in theatre. Not everyone likes the same thing, and I feel like theatre understands that. There's roles, jobs, shows, and more for everyone. You get to find what fits you and I love that. You also get to constantly challenge yourself and grow in your craft.
