Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver will give her last performance in Broadway's VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE as 'Masha' today, with Julie White stepping into the role beginning July 30.

Weaver has been with Christopher Durang's Tony nominated production since its premiere in 2012 at the McCarter Theatre Center. VANYA AND SONIA...previously played Lincoln Center before transferring to Broadway's Golden Theatre. Both runs were sold out - and the show has gone on to recoup its investment. THE HEIRESS, GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS, LUCKY GUY, and I'LL EAT YOU LAST were the only other plays to recoup this season.

The critically lauded play swept the awards circuit this year, having been named Best Play by every major theatrical awards organization including the aforementioned Tony Awards, the New York Drama Critics' Circle, the Drama Desk, the Drama League, and the Outer Critics Circle.

Riffing on some of Anton Chekov's most time-tested themes, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike proves that whether you're in 19th Century Russia or 21st Century Pennsylvania, the human condition never changes. Vanya (Pierce) and Sonia (Nielsen) have never left the confines of their childhood home - a rambling farmhouse in Bucks County, PA - while having to witness the glamorous exploits of their sister, Masha (Weaver), a famous movie actress, from afar. A surprise visit from Masha and her 20-something boy toy, Spike (Magnussen), throws the normally quiet household into utter upheaval as its residents and visitors get swept up in an intoxicating mixture of lust, rivalry, regret, and the sudden possibility of escape.

The creative team will feature David Korins (Scenic Design), Emily Rebholz (Costume Design), Justin Townsend (Lighting Design), and Mark Bennett (Original Music and Sound Design).

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike will now end its run Sunday, August 25 (it was originally scheduled to end its run on Sunday, June 30). Now according to the New York Times, it has officially recouped its Broadway investment of $2.75 million.
