Sher, Hytner et al. to Helm Productions for Met's 2010 - 2011 Season

The Metropolian Opera has announced their 2010-2011 season. The season will include productions directed by Broadway Tony Winner Bartlett Sher and Nicholas Hytner.

Sher will direct the production of Rossini's LE COMTE ORY, beginning performances March 24th, 2011. Sher will be joined by a number of other Tony winners on the production, including set desinger Michael Yeargan, costume designer Catherine Zuber, and lighting designer Brian MacDevitt. The cast will include Diana Damrau, Joyce DiDonato, and Juan Diego Florez.

Hytner will direct Verdi's DON CARLO, alongside set and costume design by Bob Crowley. The cast includes Roberto Alagna, Eric Halfvarson, Simon Keenlyside, Marina Poplavskaya, and Anna Smirnova.

Additional productions will include Wagner's DAS RHEINGOLD, DAS WALKURE starring Bryn Terfel, BORIS GODUNOV, John Adams' NIXON IN CHINA, Verdi's LA TRAVIATA, Mozart's THE MAGIC FLUTE directed by Julie Taymor, and Rossini's ARMIDA.
