Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Sam Shepard will appear at the 92nd St. Y Unterberg Poetry Center to read from a new work of fiction, according to the New York Times.
The subject and form of the work are as yet unannounced, and it has also not yet been titled. It will be published in 2008 by Knopf.
Joining Shepard at the event, which will take place on Thursday, November 2nd at 8 PM, will be Richard Ford, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist. Ford will read from his new novel The Lay of the Land.
Shepard, whose Buried Child won the 1979 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, has also penned such works as True West, Curse of the Starving Class and Fool for Love. He is also known for his work as an actor, and has appeared in films such as The Notebook, Steel Magnolias and Crimes of the Heart.
The playwright's The Tooth of Crime recently played at LaMaMa ETC, while his Crimes of the Heart starred Juliette Lewis in a London revival this summer.
