The Stranger Things universe continues to grow, with Netflix's animated series Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 securing an early Season 2 renewal at the streamer. New episodes will head to Netflix this fall.

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, the animated spin-off of the flagship series, debuted in the Netflix Global Top 10 at #7 this week, becoming one of the top 15 animated series debuts of all time.

The first season picks up in Hawkins during the winter of 1985. With the horrors of the Upside Down finally fading, the original characters, including Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max, have settled back into their normal routine of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days after the events of Stranger Things Season 2. But beneath the ice, something terrifying and mysterious has awakened and our heroes must race to solve this mystery and save Hawkins.

With Jeremy Jordan as Steve Harrington, THE VOICE cast includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Ben Plessala as Will, Brett Gipson as Hopper, Odessa A’zion as Nikki Baxer, Janeane Garofalo as Anna Baxter and Lou Diamond Phillips as Daniel Fischer.

Showrunner Eric Robles executive produces alongside the Duffer Brothers and Hilary Leavitt via Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy via 21 Laps, and Dan Cohen. Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things debuted in July 2016 and quickly became one of Netflix’s most popular series.

The series also spawned the play, Stranger Things: The First Shadow. Originally debuting on the West End in 2023, the Broadway production opened on April 22, 2025 at the Marquis Theatre and went on to win 4 Tony Awards. The play is based on an original story by the Duffer Brothers, Jack Thorne, and Kate Trefry, and is written by Trefry. Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin direct. A filmed version will arrive on Netflix at a future date that has yet to be announced.
