With SPIDER-MAN Turn Off the Dark's less-than-appealing reviews hitting newsstands this week, the producers of the $65 million giant are looking to see what the average audience member thinks of the production by offering "goodie bags" to those who participate in focus groups.

According to the New York Times, however, participants will not be viewing the entire show. They will view one act only - either act one or act two, not both. The OnTrack Research email reads:

"Hi Everyone,
For those of you, who called, do not assume you are confirmed unless you have been given a confirmation number, you will not be allowed in without one. We must have the following information before issuing a confirmation number; Name, age, phone number, and occupation. If you are bringing a guest, we need their full name and age. Thank you.

If you love Broadway Shows, we would like to invite you to to be a test audience member and participate in either Act 1 (first part of show) or Act 2 (second part of show) of the all new Broadway Musical "Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark."
We will be asking you to fill out a survey after the performance plus stay for a 15 minute discussion in the Spider-Man VIP room. In turn for your feedback and participation you will receive a Spider-Man goodie bag worth over $60.00, on us.

Please read all details below and when calling let us know which Day, which Act (1 or 2) and Time you would like to attend. Please do not call more than once. Due to the high volume of calls, we will try to get back to everyone. This is not a first come first serve event, you will get in as long as you are confirmed by me and given a reservation number. Please call either; (201) 444-6363 (201) 444-8020.

If you would like to recommend a friend, please have them call us. Thank you.

New York Times critic Ben Brantley, whose review was perhaps the harshest, told The Today Show: "It just unravels before your eyes, and you wonder, where did all that money go?"

Still, despite the reviews, SPIDER-MAN is doing well in sales, consistently finishing among the top sellers for weekly grosses. Brantley thinks he knows the reason for the success - "People are hoping they'll see a 'Boy Fall From the Sky'. Literally."
