Richard Skipper is Carol Channing in Concert, 6/5-7/5

The world premiere of Richard Skipper's Carol Channing in Concert, a loving musical-comedy tribute to Carol Channing, will be performed at the Hideaway Room at Helen's NYC for five performances from June 5th through July 5th (the first preview performance is sold out).

Starring as the legendary Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Hello, Dolly! star is 2-time MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) Award-winner Skipper. Musical arrangements and direction by Paul Stephan, with additional charts by Seth Weinstein. The Paul Stephan Group, featuring Edward Carignan, Kristopher Monroe and Adam Enright, will sing back-up vocals for Skipper. The show will also feature Marc Daine on banjo/guitar, Claire Daly on saxophone, Brian Fishler on drums, and Ritt Henn on Bass.

"This fast moving 90 minute production is filled with singing, dancing, chorus boys and comedy that will take you back to yesteryear! Miss Channing made her official nightclub debut July 8, 1957 at the fabulous Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. Variety, the bible of show business, headlined 'Carol proves customers are a girl's best friend.' In 1961, this one woman entertainment billed as Show Girl was brought to Broadway, and again the critics tossed their adjectives in the air," state press notes.

The show is conceived, written, and produced by Skipper. The show marks his return to NYC after a three year hiatus, having performed An Evening with Carol Channing very successfully all over the country and Canada. Skipper is a two-time winner of the MAC Award, as well as a three-time nominee. He also won the Backstage Bistro Award for Outstanding Achievement in Impersonation, is a nominee of an IRNE (Independent Reviewers of New England), and in addition to serving on the board of MAC, also serves on the board of IGCITA (The International Guild For Celebrity and Tribute Artists).

The show will be produced by Elegant Diamond Productions.

The June 5th preview performance, beginning at 9:30 PM, is sold out. Tickets for the other shows--June 15th (press opening) at 9:30 PM, June 20th at 9:30 PM, June 30th at 10 PM and July 5th at 9:30 PM--are available

The Hideaway Room at Helen's is located at 169 Eighth Avenue, between 18th and 19th Streets, NYC. Cover is $25 with a $15 food/drink minimum.
