Illegal Pete's, in conjunction with comedian Adam Cayton-Holland and comedy producer/performer Andy Juett, are excited to announce the inaugural High Plains Comedy Festival, taking place August 23-24 in Denver, Colorado. Intended to celebrate Denver's amazing local comedy scene while elevating it nationally, the festival will combine some of the city's finest talent with some of the world's finest talent for a two-day comedy extravaganza on historic South Broadway.

"It's kind of this insider secret amongst comedians that Denver is an amazing comedy town," explains festival co-curator Cayton-Holland. "We hope this festival exposes that fact to a much larger audience across the country by casting a spotlight on our great scene."

Headlining the festival will be the amazing Reggie Watts, a man that GQ described as a "comic genius" and that Rolling Stone said, "is a comedian like platypuses are mammals; weirdly and awesomely." Armed with nothing more than a looping pedal and his voice, Reggie creates a live show has to be seen to be believed, and has toured all over the world, from Cape Town to Reykjavik wowing audiences wherever he goes. We're elated to have him christen High Plains.

Joining Reggie will be a slew of amazing out-of-town comedians with a slew of amazing credits from Conan to Comedy Central: Kyle Kinane, Rory Scovel, Sean Patton, Matt Braunger, Nikki Glaser, Kurt Braunholer, Ron Funches, Howard Kremer, Beth Stelling, Cameron Esposito, Kate Berlant, Matt Knudsen, Amber Tozer, Andy Wood, Bryan Cook, and Jake Weisman, among others. Representing Denver will be the Grawlix (Cayton-Holland, Ben Roy, Andrew Orvedahl), The Fine Gentleman's club (Sam Tallent, Chris Charpentier, Bobby Crane and Nathan Lund), scene stalwarts Chuck Roy and Troy Baxley, and a slew of other up-and-comers. Too many to name here.

Tickets for the festival go on sale Saturday, and can be found at the festival website Highplainscomedyfestival.com. Join us for what we hope will be an amazing celebration of comedy for years to come.
