RIALTO CHATTER: Murphy Confirms Broadway GLEE A Go?

Rumors surrounding the possibility of GLEE representation on Broadway may in fact be true, if GLEE creator Ryan Murphy is to be understood correctly.  At the Eat Pray Love premiere in New York City this Week Murphy revealed to the New York Daily News of a GLEE stage adaptation: it is "definitely" happening. "I'm auditioning people now."  As for a potential cast: "I don't know just yet...You'll see."

BroadwayWorld has previously reported on the Broadway GLEE grumblings, There is no word on a timeline for a Broadway production of GLEE, though it would most likely occur during Murphy's current four-year contract with FOX.

As previously reported by BroadwayWorld, Ryan Murphy has finalized a four-year deal with 20th Century Fox worth $24 million. It will include profits from GLEE music, merchandise, and touring productions. The deal could net Murphy up to $10 million per year if GLEE continues its current rate of success.

GLEE follows an optimistic teacher who - against all odds and a malicious cheerleading coach - inspires McKinley High's Glee Club to conquer the world one singing competition at a time. GLEE stars Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling and Jenna Ushkowitz.

GLEE is produced by Ryan Murphy Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan are co-creators of the series. Murphy, Falchuk and Dante di Loreto serve as executive producers, while Ian Brennan serves as co-executive producer.
