Polish Puppet Theater to Stage 'The Last Escape,' Nov. 18

By: Oct. 31, 2006

Wroclaw Puppet Theater of Poland will present The Last Escape, a spectacle based on the stories of renowned Polish-Jewish writer Bruno Schultz, on November 18th and 19th. The performances will take place at the Manhattan Jewish Community Center.

The Last Escape is the story of a pensioner trapped in his room, trying to break through his loneliness and ennui by conjuring up a new world.

More than 70 contemporary Jewish cultural posters from the Polish School of Posters will be on view in the JCC's Tisch Gallery from November 16th through January 17th, serving as a perfect backdrop to the puppet show.

It will be the largest exhibit ever held in New York of original Jewish/Polish posters created by the renowned artists of the golden age of Polish poster art (1950s-1980s).

The Manhattan JCC is located at 334 Amsterdam Avenue at 76th Street. The show plays Saturday, November 18th at 8 PM and Sunday, November 19th at 3 PM.

Tickets are $15 for JCC members and $20 for everyone else. For tickets, please visit jccmanhattan.org.
