Photos: Inside New Albany High School Theatre Department’s ROMEO AND JULIET
When your families hate each other…but you fall in love anyway.
Fusing styles of neo-noir films of the 1980’s, synthesized sound textures of the 1980’s pop, and witch-like figures inspired by the unsettling imagery of Kubrick’s The Shining, Elliot Lemberg masterfully reimagined Romeo & Juliet.
Next up is the 5th Annual Shakespeare Under the Stars production, Return to the Forbidden Planet. Often billed as "Shakespeare's forgotten rock and roll masterpiece", Return to the Forbidden Planet is a jukebox musical by Bob Carlton based on the 1956 science fiction film Forbidden Planet, which, in turn, is loosely based on Shakespeare's play The Tempest. The show features a score of 1950s and 1960s rock and roll classics and dialogue largely adapted from well-known passages from Shakespeare.
Return to the Forbidden Planet. Which will run July 31 & August 1 at the McCoy Center for the Arts and August 2 at the Hinson Amphitheater. For more info, visit https://www.facebook.com/NewAlbanyTheatreBoosters
