Edward
Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Seascape,directed by
Mark Lamos, willopen on Monday, November 21, at 6:45 at The Booth
Theatre, 222 West 45 Street. The production features George Grizzard,
Elizabeth Marvel, Frances Sternhagen and Frederick Weller and has sets
by Michael Yeargan, costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting by Peter Kaczorowski
and sound by Aural Fixation. This limited engagement is being presented
by Lincoln Center Theater on Broadway while The Light In The Piazza continues its run at the
Vivian Beaumont Theater.
The show "is the story of the unexpected meeting of two couples -- one long-married
and on the threshold of retirement, the other, much younger and still evolving
-- on a deserted beach," according to press notes. It premiered on Broadway in 1974 and won
the 1975 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, one of three won by the playwright (the
other two plays are A Delicate Balance and Three Tall Women).
The performances schedule isTuesday
through Saturday evenings at 8pm, with matinees Wednesday and Saturday
at 2pm and Sundays at 3pm. (There is no performance on Thanksgiving
Day Nov. 24 and an added holiday matinee on Friday, Nov. 25
