Photo Flash: Lynda Carter at L.A.'s Catalina Club

By:

Lynda Carter appeared, by popular demand, in her LA début at the Catalina Club. Under the musical direction of Johnny Harris and accompanied by Michael Orland of "American Idol," she presented "An Intimate Evening with Lynda Carter" at the Catalina Club on Sunset Blvd. on June 22nd.

The stars turned out to support their friend and colleague's Los Angeles cabaret debut. Among those who showed were Bruce Vilanch, Jerry Brukheimer, Freda Payne, Les Moonves, Renee Taylor, Rita McKenzie, Joan Van Ark, Gloria Allred and "Partners in Crime" cohort, Loni Anderson.  At the opening night after party Florence Henderson, Barbara Eden and Carter shared anecdotes about being so identified with a classic TV personals. The record breaking sell out crowds in San Francisco and Los Angeles have prompted a CD release to be recorded in Los Angeles on July 17th.

"With her recent TV success in 'Smallville' and films such as Dukes of Hazzard and Sky High, and as Mama Morton in the West End production of Chicago and the 10th anniversary concert in NY, 'Wonder Woman' star Carter is in great form. Beginning the evening with the song she did as Ms. USA - Billie Holiday's 'God Bless The Child,' her rendition of 'Put the Blame on Mame' from Gilda - in honor of an idol of hers Rita Hayworth - resulted in a standing ovation, and she wrapped the evening with a dedication to her husband, politican Robert Altman, 'Always.'"

Carter's San Fransisco test marks her return to singing after 20 years.  The Los Angeles engagement was the first time her two children (Jessica and James Altman) had ever seen their mother perform.  Barbara Eden declared, "A beautiful voice from an equally beautiful woman."
