Photo Flash: Jerry Herman at Words and Music Events
The Actors' Fund hosted 2 evenings to premiere the new documentary entitled "Words and Music by Jerry Herman" - a film by Amber Edwards produced by NJN TV. The film focuses on the personal life and incredible body of work of the Grammy- and Tony Award-winning artist who wrote both the words and music for legendary Broadway hits including Hello, Dolly!, Mame, Mack & Mable, La Cage Aux Folles, The Grand Tour, Dear World, Milk and Honey and more.
The evening in Palm Springs was co-hosted by Desert AIDS project at the Camelot Theatres, while the event in LA was an Actors' Fund event at the Harmony Gold Preview House. Both screening were followed by a Q&A with Jerry Herman and Amber Edwards, moderated by David Michaels of The Actors' Fund, and a reception.
Carol Channing took a break from her hectic touring schedule in order to fly into Palm Springs for the night to surprise Herman. Attendees at the packed house in Los Angeles included film participants Jason Graae, Miles Kreuger and Alice Borden, as well as Valerie Harper, Karen Morrow, Suzanne Blakesly and Jerry's two goddaughters.
