Photo Flash: First Look at Joel Newsome and Stuart Zagnit in THE PRODUCERS at The Engeman

By:

The John W. Engeman Theater presents THE PRODUCERS. Performances began last night, May 28, 2015 at 8:00pm and will run through July 12, 2015. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast onstage below!

THE PRODUCERS tells the story of a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer, Max Bialystock, and a nerdy, young accountant, Leo Bloom, who concoct a scheme to raise thousands of dollars from backers and then put on a flop of a show. With all the money that will be left over, the pair will be rich! Only one thing goes wrong: the show is a gigantic hit! With a truly hysterical book co-written by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan (Annie) and music and lyrics by Mr. Brooks, THE PRODUCERS skewers Broadway traditions and takes no prisoners as it proudly proclaims itself an "equal opportunity offender!"

THE PRODUCERS is produced by RICHARD T. DOLCE the Engeman Theater's Producing Artistic Director. It is directed by IGOR GOLDIN (Engeman Theater: Evita!, The Music Man, Twelve Angry Men and South Pacific. Off-Broadway: YANK!, With Glee, A Ritual of Faith, Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Crossing Swords. Regional: Molly Sweeney, Learning How to Drown; An Irish Musical, Crossing Swords and Tick, Tick...BOOM!).

Choreography is by ANTOINETTE DIPIETROPOLO (Engeman Theater: A Christmas Story - The Musical, Evita!, The Music Man, South Pacific, Hairspray, I Love You You're Perfect Now Change and Nunsense. Off Broadway: With Glee. Regional: Annie, Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago, Ragtime. National Tour: How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Associate Director/Choreographer for The Big Apple Circus.) and Musical Direction is by JAMES OLMSTEAD (Engeman Theater: A Chorus Line, Evita, The Music Man, White Christmas, South Pacific).

The Design Team is DANIEL WILLIS (Scenic Design), KURT ALGER (Wig & Costume Design), DRISCOLL OTTO (Lighting Design), LAURA SHUBERT (Sound Design), BRYAN PRYWES (Props Design) WOJCIK/SEAY CASTING, LLC (Casting Director) and TREY COMPTON (Assistant Director).

The cast of THE PRODUCERS features STUART ZAGNIT (Max Bialystock), JOEL NEWSOME (Leo Bloom), GINA MILO (Ulla), JOHN PLUMPIS (Franz Liebkind), IAN KNAUER (Roger Debris), and CHRISTOPHER SLOAN (Carmen Ghia).

The cast also includes: PIM VAN AMERONGEN, EMILY BLAKE ANDERSON, ABBY BARTISH, MOLLY JEAN BLODGETT, MARY CALLAHAN, MICHAEL J. FARINA, CARL DEFOREST HENDIN, JEFFREY JOHNSON II, LARRY A. LOZIER Jr., SUZANNE MASON, LAURA OTREMBA, CALEB SCHAAF, and ERICA WILPON.
