Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Edward Albee, Francine Horn of the David Charles Horn Foundation, and Tony-winning actor Bill Irwin were on hand on Sunday evening, September 14, in New York City when Mr. Albee presented the 2nd annual Yale Drama Series playwriting award for emerging playwrights to the 2008 winner Neil Wechsler. The $10,000 prize to Mr. Wechsler for his play GRENADINE is funded by the David Charles Horn Foundation. In addition to the cash prize, Mr. Wechsler's play received a staged reading at Yale Rep in New Haven on September 15. A major new award for emerging playwrights, the Yale Drama Series winner has been chosen during its first two years by Mr. Albee. Starting in 2009, the winner will be chosen by British playwright David Hare.
