Pendleton and Coffey Star in NY Premiere of McCarthy Play

Austin Pendleton and Freeman Coffey will star in the New York premiere of a new play by Cormac McCarthy, according the New York Times.

The Sunset Limited, by the famed novelist who wrote All the Pretty Horses and Blood Meridian, will play Off-Broadway's 59E59 Theatre from October 24th through November 19th.  The show is "about an encounter between two strangers on a New York City/> subway platform."  Pendleton and Coffey previously starred in the play at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company.

Pendleton is an actor and director who earned a Tony nomination for directing the 1981 revival of The Little Foxes.  Broadway acting credits include The Diary of Anne Frank, Grand Hotel, Doubles, Goodtime Charley, and Fiddler on the Roof, while directing credits include Spoils of War, John Gabriel Borkman, and Shelter.

Coffey's many Chicago theatre credits include By the Music of the Spheres, Thunder Knocking at the Door, Other World Lovers, Pill Hill, Stones and Bones and A Raisin in the Sun.
