Pan Asian Repertory Theatre celebrates 30 years of excellence, innovation, service and education as New York's premier off-Broadway Asian-American theatre company at their 30th Anniversary Gala Award Dinner, being held Monday, March 5, 2007 at the legendary Copacabana (560 W. 34th Street). The evening, emceed by playwright David Henry Hwang and Chris Chan, Esq., honors the late actor Mako, who starred on Broadway in Pacific Overtures and in over 100 films, with the Theatre Legacy Award. Rocky Chin, a committed activist, formerly with the NYC Commission for Human Rights, will receive the Community Service Award. Pan Asian's annual Red Socks Award, honoring Asian-American theatrical artists, will be presented to actor Nicky Paraiso. The ceremony will include picture montages of Pan Asian Rep's past productions, video clips from Mako's most notable films and a performance of the opening number from Pacific Overtures. The evening opens with a cocktail hour and dinner in the grand ballroom, and continues with the awards ceremony, dancing and a raffle, proceeds of which will benefit Pan Asian Repertory's continuing commitment to bringing Asian-themed productions to New York audiences.

This May, Pan Asian Rep presents the internationally renowned play Tea, written by Velina Houston and directed by Tina Chen. The play studies four Japanese war brides, who gather at a friend's house to mourn her death, as they remember their friend, her life and their lives together. The play opens May 26, 2007.
