Three-time Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown took to Facebook this week to inform fans of the recent first reading of the first draft of his new musical, THE CONNECTOR, with a book by Jonathan Marc Sherman and direction by Daisy Prince.

"It was also the first time in over five years that I have put totally new theatrical material in front of actors and asked them to bring it to life," he posts. "I am so lucky that I had such an incredible and generous group of collaborators, not just the fifteen actors but a great band and an amazingly supportive staff from New York Theatre Workshop. Who ever knows what will happen with a show, but today felt like a great beginning, and a ridiculous amount of fun."

In 2011, The Chicago Tribune reported that THE CONNECTOR would be heading to the Northlight Theatre for a run during the 2011-12 season. The musical is reportedly about unreliable journalists who create their own news.

Jason Robert Brown was last represented on Broadway with HONEYMOON IN VEGAS and was awarded Tonys for his scores of PARADE and THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, also winning for his orchestrations of the latter. He first gained prominence Off-Broadway with SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD and received Drama Desk Awards for his music and lyrics for THE LAST FIVE YEARS.
