Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical, the first rock musical, turns 40 and SIRIUS' Broadway's Best channel will celebrate the milestone with a broadcast event featuring James Rado, Natalie Mosco and Heather MacRae who will each share backstage stories about the show, the songs and the era.  SIRIUS listeners will also hear selections from the original cast recording, including the hit songs "Hair," "Aquarius," "Let the Sunshine In," "Easy To Be Hard," and  "Good Morning Starshine," as well as renditions of songs from its score by artists such as The Fifth Dimension, Three-Dog Night and The Cowsills which became top 40 hits.

Two-time Tony Award® nominee André De Shields, who recently directed a production of Hair at Buffalo State College, will participate in the broadcast and share stories about his first professional job in the Chicago production of Hair.

Hair, The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical opened on Broadway at the Biltmore theatre in 1968.  The musical broke new ground in musical theatre by defining the genre of the "rock musical" and utilized a racially-integrated cast.  The show's infamous nude scene and "make love not war" message drew protests.  Hair captured the spirit of the 1960s and exemplifies the youth, music and peace culture of the time.

Hair will again be staged this summer by the Public Theater at The Delacorte Theater in New York's Central Park, July 22-August 17, 2008.

Broadway's Best puts SIRIUS listeners front row center for the greatest show tune hits sung by the stars of the musical stage, bringing Broadway to every street in America.  The channel features songs and interviews from the biggest stars of musical theater including Nathan Lane, Bernadette Peters, Julie Andrews, Patti LuPone, Hugh Jackman, Harvey Fierstein, Liza Minnelli, Barbra Streisand, Carol Channing and many more.
