The Drama Book Shop proudly welcomes Mint Theater Company's Artistic Director Jonathan Bank for a discussion about the company's devotion to rediscovering lost plays and its current production, A Day By The Sea. The event, which is free to the public, will take place on Wednesday, August 17th at 5:00PM. Bank will be joined by critic and historian Peter Filichia.

Mint Theater Company finds and produces worthwhile plays from the past that have been lost or forgotten. It is our mission to create new life for these plays through research, dramaturgy, production, publication, readings and a variety of enrichment programs. The Mint was founded in 1992. Jonathan Bank became artistic director in 1995 and began to shape the company's mission, focusing on lost plays. Its first major success came in 1999 with the American premiere of The Voysey Inheritance, written by Harley Granville-Barker in 1905. "A playwright, and a company, couldn't do much better," wrote the New York Times. Since then, the company has produced close to 50 neglected plays-terrific works by talented playwrights that might otherwise have been lost forever. The company has recently begun republishing these neglected works in its Reclaimed Series. The books, which include works by Teresa Deevy, St. John Hankin, Harley Granville Barker and Arthur Schnitzler are available for purchase at The Drama Book Shop.

A Day By The Sea, set in a seaside town in Dorset after the Second World War, is a moving and often funny depiction of shattered ambitions and personal isolation. Julian Anson, a civil servant approaching middle age, is demoted after learning that his appetite for hard work has only antagonized his superiors. The production, directed by Austin Pendleton, runs from July 22nd through September 24th. Tickets are available at www.telecharge.com.

The Tony Award-winning Drama Book Shop, now celebrating its 99th year, is located at 250 West 40th Street, between 7th and 8th Avenues. For more information on this and other events, please visit www.dramabookshop.com.
