Michael Cerveris' Character to Take Spotlight on 'Fringe'

Michael Cerveris' character on the FOX series "Fringe" will be moving into the spotlight on this Tuesday's episode and be given a character name.

"Fringe" is a science fiction television series co-created by J. J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The series premiered on September 9, 2008 on FOX.  The sci-fi series centers around research scientist named Walter Bishop , his son Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson), and an FBI agent, Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) who brings them back together.

Michael Cerveris has starred on Broadway in The Who's Tommy, Titanic: The Musical, Assassins, Sweeney Todd, Cymbeline, and Assasins. He has been nominated for the Tony Award four times. His first nomination was for his Broadway debut in 1993, for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical for The Who's Tommy. Cerveris was nominated again in 2006 for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for Sweeney Todd. He won the 2004 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical for his role as John Wilkes Booth in the revival of the Stephen Sondheim/ John Weidman musical Assassins. He was nominated for the 2007 Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical Tony Award for his performance as composer Kurt Weill in LoveMusik

He has appeared off-Broadway in The Apple Tree, King Lear, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and the upcoming Road Show at The Public Theater.

In addition to "Fringe" Cerveris has appeared on the television shows "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", "Law & Order: Criminal Intent", "Quantum Leap" and the TV movie "The American Embassy"
