The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse presents a big, brassy, Broadway season with their 2011 Summer Series. Classics and soon-to-be classics fill out the season including a special production in a new venue. The season begins June 1st with toes tapping all the way through October 1st.

The 2011 season kicks off June 1st with one of the funniest musicals ever written. Anything Goes is a classic in every sense of the word. A delightful trip across the Atlantic with a cast of crazy characters, five love stories and, oh yes, lots and lots of tap dancing! Featuring songs by Cole Porter including, "Blow, Gabriel, Blow," "I Get a Kick Out of You," "Anything Goes," and "You're the Top" don't miss this show running through June 22nd.

Next, MGR is pleased to present the regional premiere of Hairspray, a twelve-time Tony Award winner runs June 29th through July 20th. Hairspray takes you to Baltimore in 1962 and tells the story of Tracy Turnblad, a girl with big hair, a big heart and a big passion to dance. Great music, great dancing, great story; Hairspray has it all.

Just when you're ready to hang up your dance shoes, 42nd Street will be tapping its way onto the Merry-Go-Round stage. The original song and dance fable of the Great White Way will be lively, lavish and spectacular; it has everything you love about a Broadway musical including incredible numbers "We're in the Money," "Shuffle Off to Buffalo," and "Lullaby of Broadway." July 27th though August 17th "Come and Meet Those Dancing Feet!"

Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? Come find out at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse with this heart warming, laugh out loud musical comedy playing August 24th through September 10th. This musical follows a loveable gang of kids as they travel through Catholic School in the early 1960's. You'll follow them as they go from first confession to first date, all under the watchful eyes of Father O'Reilly and the good Sisters.

For Merry-Go-Round's special fall production, The Marvelous Wonderettes is a soon-to-be classic. Four lifelong girlfriends, who are also an amazing girl group, perform pop hits of the fifties and sixties. Follow the girls from their Senior Prom to their Ten Year Reunion and enJoy Songs like "Lollipop," "Lipstick on Your Collar," and "Leader of the Pack" along the way. Audiences are sure to recognize most of the 30 songs of this amazing show running September 14th through October 1st.

Running in the middle of the summer season, concurrently to Hairspray and 42nd Street, the new Merry-Go-Round Downtown presents Cooking with the Calamari Sisters: Mangia Italiano! This new musical was specially selected to MGR's first presentation in a new and intimate theatre in Downtown Auburn at Auburn Public Theater on Genesee Street. Running July 13th through August 6th, Cooking with the Calamari Sisters takes place on the set of the sister's fictional cable-access cooking show Mangia Italiano. The zany Calamari sisters take their audiences on a wild and laugh filled romp as they prepare their latest dishes while belting out all of your old favorites from "Que Sera Sera" to "Mambo Italiano." One word of warning, sometime the girls' language can be as spicy as their cooking so this is not one for the bambinos or anyone who may not like colorful language.

The 2011 Subscription Series is currently on sale with special Blue Light prices available until October 9, 2010. Subscriptions do not include tickets to The Marvelous Wonderettes or Cooking with the Calamari Sisters, but subscribers do have the opportunity to purchase tickets for these special productions before single tickets go on sale April 1, 2011.
