McArdle, Pedi, Morton, Lavin and More Featured in Spring Season at Birdland

Jim Caruso and TheaterMania.com have announced The Spring Season at Birdland, a series of 7pm concerts featuring top Broadway and cabaret performers and songwriters at the legendary club (315 West 44th Street, NYC).

The season will include
The Jeff Blumenkrantz Songbook (February 13), Andrea McArdle (February 14), The Marcy & Zina Show (February 20), Penny Fuller (March 6), Under the Covers with Victoria Shaw (March 14), Jim Brickman (March 20, 21), Christine Pedi (April 3), Linda Lavin (April 10), Steven Brinberg as Simply Barbra (April 17), David Ippolito (May 1), Dick Scanlan (May 8), Euan Morton (May 15), and Jule Styne in Hollywood (May 22). 

The Jeff Blumenkrantz Songbook, on Monday, February 13th, will feature Broadway babies Judy Blazer, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Victoria Clark, Rebecca Luker, Ryan Perry, and Sally Wilfert singing the material of the Tony Award-nominated composer of such theatrical ventures as Urban Cowboy, The Audience, and Audra McDonald's The Seven Deadly Sins.  The show is $25.

Andrea McArdle will perform on Tuesday, February 14th.  "Since her Tony nominated turn as the original Annie on Broadway, vocalist Andrea McArdle has remained one of Broadway's brightest stars with roles in Starlight Express, State Fair, Les Miserables, and Beauty And The Beast.  Spend a special Valentines Day with our favorite redhead," state press notes.  The show is $40.

The Marcy & Zina Show, on Monday, February 20th, will feature Rebecca Luker, Richard Todd Adams & Scott Coulter joining Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich, the prodigious songwriting duo responsible for "Taylor The Latte Boy," and the Off-Broadway hit, Junie B. Jones.  Their show is $25.

Penny Fuller will appear on Monday, March 6th.  "The Emmy-winning and Tony-nominated star of The Dinner Party and Applause makes a rare cabaret appearance, performing a rich tapestry of theater songs and popular music." Her show is $40.

Under The Covers with Victoria Shaw will be performed on Tuesday, March 14.  "The singer/songwriter responsible for over 65 million cds is joined by Gary Burr, Mark Hudson and Billy for another country/pop round-robin extravaganza!"  The show is $25.

Jim Brickman will be featured on Monday/Tuesday, March 20st/21th.  "We're thrilled to host two special intimate evenings with this remarkable Platinum-selling composer and pianist."  $40

Christine Pedi will parade out a series of Great Dames on Monday, April 3rd.  "The popular star of Forbidden Broadway sings a collection of songs by and about the great ladies, divas, dolls, broads, babes, sirens and songstresses of the stage and screen."  Her show is $25..

Linda Lavin will be featured with The Song Remembers When on Monday, April 10st. "The beloved star of 'Alice' recalls her roots in the theater with musical choices ranging from Gershwin, Maltby & Shire, Dave Frishberg and Trisha Yearwood.  The musical relationship with pal Billy Stritch at the piano adds to the party atmosphere this hostess-with-the-mostess exudes."  The show is $40.

Steven Brinberg is Simply Barbra on Monday, April 17th, when he performs Wait Till We're 64…The Birthday Concert.  "The world-renowned Streisand impersonator returns from a symphonic tour with Marvin Hamlisch to celebrate the ultimate Diva's birthday with songs, stories and special guest stars from the Broadway stage."

David Ippolito will perform on Monday, May 1st.  "'That Guitar Man From Central Park' celebrates his 15th year singing and playing his thoroughly original tunes for the people of New York City."  The show is $25.

Dick Scanlan will be seen performing Buddy Booth Up on Monday, May 8th.  "The lyricist/librettist of Thoroughly Modern Millie recounts his experiences on the other side of the footlights as an original cast member in the 1991 cult hit musical, Pageant.  Set against the backdrop of the darkest days of the AIDS epidemic, this is a frank, funny and affectionate monologue about playing a woman…and becoming a man."  The show is $25.

Euan Morton will be featured on Monday, May 15th.  "The Tony-nominated star of Taboo sings reinterpreted Broadway standards and splashy songs from his brand new album, NewClear."  His show is $30.

Jule Styne in Hollywood will be performed by an array of stars on Monday, May 22nd.  "This concert will celebrate the PS Classics recording of both standards and forgotten gems from Styne's illustrious film catalog, including his 10 Academy Award-nominated songs."  Performers on the cd to include Audra McDonald, Leslie Uggams, Brent Barrett, Norm Lewis, Rebecca Luker, Kelli O'Hara, Marin Mazzie & Jason Danieley, Sutton Foster, and Debbie Gravitte.  The show is $30.
