Mamma Mia! to Open in Prague in October

Mamma Mia!, the global hit musical based on the songs of ABBA, will premiere in Czech Republic at Sazka Arena in Prague on October 10th, 2007.

"Inspired by the story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs, writer Catherine Johnson's sunny, funny tale of family and friendship unfolds on a tiny Greek island. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings 3 men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago," according to press materials.

The production features 22 of ABBA's hits including: "Chiquitita," "Dancing Queen," "I Have a Dream," "Knowing Me, Knowing You," "The Winner Takes It All," "Super Trouper," "Take a Chance on Me," and "Voulez-Vous."

"Seen by more than 30 million people around the world, Mamma Mia! is currently in its sixth year at Broadway's Winter Garden Theatre, and is also currently enjoying a successful engagements in Las Vegas and on National Tour in the United States. The original West End production has played more than 3,500 performances, an international tour has played in more than 30 cities, and the feature film of Mamma Mia will be released in the summer of 2008."

"Over the last two and a half years, the International Tour has visited Dublin, Edinburgh, South Africa, Tallinn, Lisbon, Paris, Brussels, throughout Germany, Vienna, Zurich, Belfast, Qatar, Dubai, Copenhagen, Riga, Helsinki, Tel Aviv and is currently playing in Shanghai. The tour has been seen by over 1.5 million people."

"Since its stage premiere in 1999,Mamma Mia! has gone on to gross over £155 million at the UK Box Office and over $2 billion worldwide. More than 30 million people have seen the show worldwide."

Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, Mamma Mia! features a book written by Catherine Johnson and is directed by Phyllida Lloyd. Mamma Mia! has choreography by Anthony Van Laast, production design by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken, and musical supervision, additional material and arrangements by Martin Koch.

The International Tour is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East and Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal, Stage Entertainment and NGM.
