Here We Go Again! MAMMA MIA! to Get New Life in Movie Sequel; Meryl Streep to Reprise Role?
My, my, here we go again! MAMMA MIA! might be leaving Broadway this month, but the musical will live on in a sequel to the 2008 film adaptation.
The New York Post writes that producer Judy Craymer is already developing the project, with Meryl Streep likely to reprise her starring role as 'Donna' and Pierce Brosnan potentially coming back as 'Sam'.
Not only that, but SOMETHING ROTTEN! helmer Casey Nicholaw is also in the running to direct.
No word yet on the rest of the original movie cast, which includes Amanda Seyfried, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Stellan Skarsgård, Colin Firth, Rachel McDowall and more.
The first MAMMA MIA! movie is the highest-grossing movie musical of all time, with more than $600 million in grosses worldwide and still growing. The soundtrack of the movie has been certified platinum in over 20 countries.
