Wicked London in association with Seven Dials will host its first ever
Wicked Day celebrations on Sunday 29 October 2006.
Wicked, "the new musical that tells the untold story of the legendary witches from L. Frank Baum's classic
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," has already been seen by over 70,000 people since performances began at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre on 7 September.
Wicked Day will be held in London's Seven Dials and the Thomas Neal's Centre, Covent Garden.
A major event is the Be
Wicked singing contest, held in the Thomas Neal's Centre between 1 PM and 4 PM. Hopefuls can enter on the Internet until 13 October by sending in a clip of themselves singing one of the songs from the production.
10 finalists will be selected to perform on the day in front of an expert judging panel:
Wicked's Casting Director Pippa Ailion, UK Music Supervisor Gareth Valentine, and the show's own Dr. Dillamond, aka actor
Martin Ball.
Many bars and shops within the Seven Dials area will be joining in the day's Halloween celebrations on the 29th. Those participating include: Dress Circle, Box Bar, Fenchurch, Kiehls, Loewy Vintage Clothing, Mysteries, Orla Kiely, Pauline Burrows, Screen Face and Two See.
There will be the opportunity to enter a contest the day of by collecting stamps from the participating retailers in order to win a fantastically
Wicked prize.
The event was originally conceived to celebrate the anniversary of the show's opening at Broadway's Gershwin Theatre, just before Halloween.
