Elegant cabaret favorite Karen Akers will return to the Algonquin's Oak Room (59 W. 44th St.) from April 4th through May 13th, 2006.

Akers impressed critics with her latest show, When a Lady Loves, at the luxe venue.  Details for the new show, however, have not yet been announced.

Prior to her stint at the Algonquin, Akers will perform at the Barcelona Opera House Feb. 2nd and 4th, and at The Barns at Wolf Trap on March 3rd and 4th.  She will play the Emelin Theatre in Mamaroneck, NY on June 2nd and 3rd after she leaves the Oak Room.

Akers created the role of Luisa in the original Broadway production of Nine; she received a Tony Award nomination for her performance.  She was also featured in another
Maury Yeston/Tommy Tune musical--Grand Hotel.  Her film credits include Heartburn and Woody Allen's The Purple Rose of Cairo, while she has been seen on TV in "Cheers."  Known for her cabaret interpretations of musical theatre songs, standards and French chanson, Akers has released eight CDs, including Presenting Karen Akers and If We Only Have Love.
