Encore Players Auditions announce Auditions for WORKING: THE MUSICAL

Show Synopsis:
The hopes, dreams, joys and concerns of the average working American are the focus of this unique, extraordinary musical. That the everyday lives of "common" men and women should be so compelling and moving will surprise and inspire anyone who has ever punched a time clock. Based on Studs Terkel's best-selling book of interviews with American workers, "Working" paints a vivid portrait of the men and women the world so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the parking lot attendant, the waitress, the millworker, the mason, the trucker, the fireman, the housewife, just to name a few. It's a highly original look at the American landscape that's simply impossible to forget.

All parts are open:
Casting a variety of characters from Studs Terkel's interviews: casting men and women from late teens to retirement age. Most will play multiple roles.

Auditions will be held in 30-minute slots at KVPAC on Tues July 27

Starting at 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Please prepare 16 bars of a ballad and an additional up tempo. You may sing acapella or bring a CD or Mp3 backup. No accompanist will be at the audition. You may only be asked to do one song.

Please also prepare a 45 second monologue from a play that shows a character sharing something that moves them deeply. You will possibly be asked to cold read or sing with a group after a brief session with the musical director.

Bring heasdhot/resume if you have one.

Please call 281-829-2787 for Gregory Magyar or email him at gmagyar@kvpac.org to set up an appointment time.

Rehearsals begin immediately after all casting is completed!

Performances are October 1, 2, 3, 8, 9 & 10, 2010
