In a new interview with Vulture, DOWNTON ABBEY creator Julian Fellowes shares that he "truly" hopes a movie version of the historic drama will come to fruition once the final season airs in the U.S.

"I truly hope there will be a film of Downton," he told the site at the International Emmy Awards held on Monday night. "I mean, that's what I really want."

He adds that there is still "a ways to go" before the show makes the leap to the big screen, but for now he is focusing his efforts on the script. "So much of this depends on the script. For me, it's the real key here," he said. "This holds a great deal of interest for me, because I still have more to say with Downton. I see this transitioning to film quite well, and I certainly am the person to tell this story."
