John Cameron Mitchell, who created and starred in both Hedwig and the Angry Inch on stage and on film will appear at December 2nd and 3rd midnight screenings of the film version. It will be screened at the IFC Center (323 6th Ave. and W. 3rd St.).

In addition to an informal meet and greet session with Mitchell, the event will feature a Hedwig costume contest; Hedwig fans should arrive at the theatre by 11 PM.

Based on the off-Broadway hit that he wrote with Stephen Trask, the 2001 film version of Hedwig and the Angry Inch was directed by Mitchell, who also starred. It also featured Trask Michael Pitt, Miriam Shor and others in its cast.

According to press notes from a Halloween benefit at the York Theatre Company, Hedwig and the Angry Inch focuses on "'internationally ignored' rock singer, Hedwig, and her search for love and stardom. Born a boy named Hansel whose life's dream is to find his other half, Hedwig reluctantly submits to a sex change operation in order to marry an American G.I. and get over the Berlin Wall to freedom. The operation is botched, leaving her with the aforementioned 'angry inch.' Finding herself high, dry and divorced in a Kansas trailer park, she pushes on to form a rock band and encounters a lover/protégé in young Tommy Gnosis, who eventually leaves her, steals her songs and becomes a huge rock star."

The original off-Broadway production ran from February 14th, 1998 through April 9th, 2000 at the Jane Street Theatre, with Mitchell, Michael Cerveris, Matt McGrath, Kevin Cahoon and Ally Sheedy filling the title role.
