New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has just announced that mass rail transit in and out of New York City will shut down beginning at 12:00pm tomorrow. This includes the New York City subway system, and commuter rail lines that service Westchester, Long Island and Connecticut. If wind intensity does exceed 60mph, all major bridges, including the George Washington Bridge leading into northern New Jersey will be closed, as well.

As reported earlier by The Weather Channel, New York City is likely to experience winds up to 90 mph beginning on Saturday night into Sunday and is at extreme risk for flooding. Tune into www.weather.com for more information and continuous updates.  Irene has just begun hitting the Carolinas.
