The Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the full company joining Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald as "Lizzie Curry," Tony Award winner John Cullum as "H. C. Curry," and Steve Kazee as "Starbuck" in a new Broadway production of 110 in the Shade, with a book by N. Richard Nash, music by Tony Award-honoree Harvey Schmidt, lyrics by Tony Award honoree Tom Jones and directed by Lonny Price.

The cast will also include Chris Butler (Yellowman, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in L.A.) as Noah, Carla Duren (Las Vegas Hairspray) as Snookie, Christopher Innvar (The Threepenny Opera, Les Miserables) as File, Bobby Steggert ("Master Harold"...and the boys, A Christmas Carol) as Jimmy and Elisa Van Duyne, Colleen Fitzpatrick, Valisia Lekae Little, Darius Nichols, Mamie Parris, Devin Richards, Michael Scott, Will Swenson, Matt Wall, and Betsy Wolfe.

110 in the Shade will begin previews on Friday, April 13th, 2007 and open on Wednesday, May 9th, 2007 at Studio 54 on Broadway (254 West 54th Street).   This is a limited engagement through July 15th, 2007.

110 in the Shade will feature choreography by Dan Knechtges, musical direction by Paul Gemignani, and orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick.  The design team includes Santo Loquasto (sets and costumes), Christopher Akerlind (lights) and Dan Moses Schreier (sound).

"In the middle of a heat wave in 1930's Texas, when everyone is longing for rain, or a breeze, Lizzie Curry (McDonald) is on the verge of becoming a hopeless old maid. Her wit, intelligence and skills as a homemaker can't make up for the fact that she can't find true love. Even the town sheriff, for whom she harbors a secret yen, won't take a chance. However, when a charismatic rainmaker named Starbuck (Kazee) enters the town and her family's life, Lizzie's world is turned upside down," state press notes.

Four-time Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald returns to the Broadway stage having most recently won a Tony for her performance in the 2004 Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun.  Broadway veteran and two-time Tony Award-winner John Cullum returns to Roundabout having last starred in Arthur Miller's All My Sons during the 1996-1997 season.  Steve Kazee returns to the Broadway stage after starring as Sir Lancelot in Monty Python's SpamalotLonny Price returns to Roundabout Theatre Company having recently directed the 2003 Broadway revival of "Master Harold"...and the boys, starring Danny Glover.

The musical 110 in the Shade, based on N. Richard Nash's The Rainmaker, premiered on Broadway on October 24, 1963 at the Broadhurst Theatre. The original Broadway production of The Rainmaker premiered on October 28, 1954 and was subsequently produced by Roundabout Theatre Company in 1999 starring Woody Harrelson and Jayne Atkinson.
