Original cast member Adam Monley is moving up within the ranks of the Broadway revival of LES MISERABLES.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Monley will officially succeed Earl Carpenter as Javert in Cameron Mackintosh's Broadway production of Claude-Michel Schönberg & Alain Boublil's LES MISERABLES, beginning tomorrow, December 22.

Carpenter has been away since November 18, and "will not return to the production so that he can undergo a small procedure to ensure a full recovery." Original Javert Will Swenson previously subbed.

Monley is an original cast member of this production as the Bishop of Digne and ensemble member and has performed the role of Javert numerous times.

Hayden Tee from the Australian production will assume the role of Javert January 29.

In a blog post on his official website, Carpenter wrote: "...It's never nice to finish a contract like this, especially when there's nothing anyone can do. I can't begin to describe my frustration and sadness. Everyone, the 'Les Miz Family' is ensuring I'm fit and well for the next project and for that I am so incredibly grateful.

I'm so appreciative for the opportunity to have worked on Broadway again and with such a great cast, supportive management and of course the Twitter support that you guys has shown me."

BroadwayWorld wishes Carpenter a quick and full recovery.

The cast of Les Miserables currently features Alfie Boe, the internationally-acclaimed tenor (and star of the London LES MIZ 25th Anniversary concert) as Jean Valjean (to be replaced by John Owen-Jones on March 1, 2016,) Tony Award nominee Montego Glover as Fantine, Tony Award and Olivier Award nominee Gavin Lee as Thenardier, Rachel Izenas Madame Thenardier, Brennyn Lark as Eponine, Chris McCarrell as Marius, Alex Finke as Cosette and Wallace Smithas Enjolras.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the revival will wrap its run on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the Imperial Theater. This new production of the musical will have given 1,026 performances over two-and-a-half years. In total, since the 1987 opening of the original production, Les Miserables will have played 8,202 performances on Broadway.
