Broadway Ad Campaigns For SUNSET BLVD., DEATH BECOMES HER, and More Receive Clio Entertainment Awards

Several Broadway marketing campaigns won at the 2025 Clio Entertainment Awards. AKA NYC took home five Clios for its work on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Sunset Boulevard, Ragtime, Buena Vista Social Club, and Good Night, and Good Luck. RPM won a Silver Clio for its printed “Eternally Fabulous” campaign for Death Becomes Her. The Clio Awards honor excellence in marketing and communications across film, TV, live entertainment, and gaming.

Peacock to Offer Multiview Option for 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the First Time

For the first time, Peacock will stream the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in a Multiview format, offering three different camera angles. The option is available to Peacock Premium and Premium Plus subscribers. Viewers can choose between a traditional broadcast, a ride-along on the Tom the Turkey float, or a high-rise aerial perspective. The parade airs November 27, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. across all time zones on NBC and Peacock.

Update on the Broadway Tax Credit – Deadline Shifts and How Non-Profits are Qualifying

Empire State Development (ESD) is now accepting applications for the Broadway tax credit for shows whose first paid performance is on or before December 1, extending the previously reported deadline. While the tax credit is technically limited to “for-profit” productions, some nonprofits are qualifying by creating associated for-profit corporate entities. Examples include companies formed by Roundabout Theatre, Signature Theatre, and 2ST that apply for the subsidy. The Broadway League continues to lobby for an extension of the tax credit program.

Senate Democrats Investigate Kennedy Center Discounts For Trump Allies

Senate Democrats are probing steep discounts granted by the Kennedy Center to allies of former President Trump following a leadership shift that placed Trump allies in central roles. Reports allege that the American Conservative Union Foundation rented space for a “Christian persecution” summit at a discounted rate, with fees waived for production services. The Kennedy Center also allegedly gave FIFA nearly three weeks of 24/7 access to its venue in peak season, displacing other performances. In the wake of these deals, subscription attendance for major programming reportedly dropped 36%

American Theatre: New Survey of Artists Highlights Challenges of Sustaining Creative Work

A national survey conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago and the Mellon Foundation finds that many artists in the U.S. face significant financial insecurity. According to the survey, 57% of artists worry about affording basic needs like food, housing, utilities, or medical care. The data shows that 50% have self-employment as their primary job, and 11% held three or more jobs in the past year. The study also reveals diverse roles: 28% identify as teaching artists, 28% provide unpaid care for a loved one, and 8% have served in the military.

UK Government to Ban Ticket Resale Above Face Value

The UK government plans to outlaw the resale of live event tickets above their original purchase price. Under the proposed rules, ticket re-sellers would be prohibited from charging more than what was paid initially, though resale platforms may charge limited service fees. The move is part of a broader effort to combat ticket touting in music, theatre, comedy, and sports. The policy fulfills a Labour government pledge and is expected to be announced soon, according to reporting by the BBC.
