Welcome to this week's edition of BroadwayWorld's exclusive WEEKLY GROSSES ANALYSIS - read on for all the weekly grosses statistics for the movers and shakers from the latest grosses, for the week ending 4/29/2018.
This week, 35 shows played on Broadway, with 305,422 tickets sold and a total gross of $35,335,328. The average ticket price was $115.69.Of note this week, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical has joined Broadway's elite Million Dollar Club following the official opening this week at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street). She works hard for the money. The new musical grossed $1,055,612.10 for the week ending April 29, 2018, a jump of $92,695 over the prior week.
ICEMAN played only 5 paid shows this past week, as the show's Thursday opening was a comped house.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child grossed $1,886,079 for the week ending April 29. They also had post-opening press comps in at all performances last week, along with nominators and voters for the upcoming theatre awards - multiplied by two, given that the production is in two parts.
This was less than the number of shows as last week and down 1 vs. the same week last year. Compared to last week, attendance was down -3.03%. Versus last year, attendance was up 2.76%. On the sales front, overall grosses were down -5.79% vs. last week and up 8.69% vs. this week last year. This week's average ticket price of $115.69 is down $-3.39 compared to last week and up $6.31 compared to last year.
