On Monday, March 6th at Cipriani 42nd Street (110 East 42nd Street), The American Legacy Foundation will host a special event featuring Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, as well as Broadway performers Cady Huffman, Liz Callaway and Alan Cumming and numerous other entertainment luminaries, to honor those working toward the foundation's mission: to build a world where young people reject tobacco and anyone can quit using tobacco products.

"Each year in the US, more than 400,000 Americans lose their lives to tobacco-related diseases, from heart disease and cancers to emphysema and stroke. The annual Honors ceremony raises funds for life-saving programs and campaigns to keep young people from smoking, and to help Americans who want to quit get the services and support they need," state press notes.

Celebrity participants will include Tony Award-winners Huffman (The Producers) and Cumming (Cabaret, The Threepenny Opera), and Tony-nominee Callaway (Baby, Miss Saigon), who will sing "The Story Goes On," as well as musician Moby, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" actress Diane Neal, "The View"'s Star Jones, comedian and actress Aisha Tyler, Samantha Brown, host of the Travel Channel's "Great Hotels," fashion designer Tracy Reese, and MTV VJ La La Vasquez

Jane Hanson, host of WNBC-TV's "Jane's New York," will emcee the event, which will feature Rodham Clinton as guest speaker. The following will be honorees at the event: Westin Hotels and Resorts-- for "Corporate Leadership Award for making all of its properties in the United States and the Caribbean 100-percent smoke-free" and Dr. Lourdes Baezconde-Garbanati, Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine -"Community Activist Award for her advocacy work on tobacco control in minority communities, especially among Latinos in California."

The event will begin with 6:30 p.m. cocktails, followed by the 7:30 p.m. awards ceremony and dinner.

"The American Legacy Foundation is a national public health foundation devoted to tobacco use prevention and cessation. In 2003, the foundation received what is likely its final payment from the National Public Education Fund established by the Master Settlement Agreement. Despite the success of such programs as its truth(R) youth anti-tobacco prevention campaign, community-based grants, and other tobacco education programs, the foundation now faces an unprecedented funding challenge. The Honors event is an opportunity to invite organizations and individuals to partner with the foundation and contribute their resources to the critical, life-saving work of the American Legacy Foundation."
