Howard McGillin, Barbara Walsh and More Lead A SALUTE TO SONDHEIM at SUNY Tonight
Some of Broadway's brightest stars, including Tony Award nominees Howard McGillin ("Phantom of the Opera", "Sunday in the Park With George") and Barbara Walsh ("Company", "Falsettos"), along with Loni Ackerman ("Evita", "Cats") and Penguin favorite Richard Kline ("Wicked", "Three's Company"), headline a cast of more than 15 in A Salute to Sondheim tonight, October 5 at 8 p.m. at SUNY Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York.
A benefit for Penguin Rep Theatre, Rockland's only professional Equity company, the special presentation is conceived and directed by Thom Christopher Warren to celebrate the genius of composer Stephen Sondheim ("West Side Story", "Sweeney Todd", "Follies", "Into the Woods"), widely recognized as Broadway's greatest living composer.
The special presentation is sponsored by Joseph Grosso and will take place in R.C.C.'s Cultural Arts Theatre located on 145 College Road. All seats are reserved.
Tickets are $39 ($34 for Penguin subscribers) and can be purchased online at www.penguinrep.org, by phone at (845) 786-2873, or in the atrium of the Cultural Arts Theatre on October 5 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Penguin Rep artistic director Joe Brancato says, "Don't miss this opportunity to see amazing talent performing some of Broadway's greatest music!"
Under the dynamic leadership of founding Artistic Director Joe Brancato and executive director Andrew M. Horn, Penguin Rep Theatre has grown in 35 years from a summer theatre in a converted 1880's hay barn to become one of the Hudson Valley's most influential nonprofit cultural institutions. Founded in 1977, Penguin now reaches tens of thousands of theatergoers, students and artists each year at its home theatre in Stony Point (Rockland County), in New York City and beyond - with plays and productions premiered by Penguin moving to Off Broadway, and to stages across the country and around the world.
